Benefiting from strong growth in its various business performance indicators such as operating revenue, profit and asset scale, Fosun International now ranks 73rd and 63rd on China’s Fortune 500 listing in terms of operating revenue and profit, as released by Fortune China on July 13, 2016. Fosun’s ranking has been rising steadily over the past three years, with its ranking moving from 115th, to 96th, and to 73rd in 2014, 2015 and 2016, respectively.

Despite the sharp plunge in global oil prices in 2015, the two “oil giants”, namely Sinopec and CNPC, continue to occupy the topmost positions on this year’s China Fortune 500 ranking. In particular, in terms of operating revenue, Sinopec and CNPC have been ranked first and second respectively, while China State Construction, ICBC and SAIC Motor occupy the third to fifth positions on the ranking. Companies that are new on the list include internet-based enterprises such as LeEco and Ctrip, while members of the BAT trio (namely, Baidu, Alibaba and Tencent) rank 87th, 62nd, and 57th, respectively.
