Fosun Health and Prudential Collaborate to Establish a New Direct Payment Model for Medical Services in the Greater Bay Area
As integration progresses within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, cross-border mobility and demand for medical services continue to rise. In recent years, residents have shown increasing concern for “seamless healthcare access”, “high-quality medical services”, and “direct payment options for medical expenses”.
According to Prudential Hong Kong Limited (“Prudential”)’s 2024 Individual Life Claims Report, the use of the Medical Expenses Direct Billing Service has surged by 46% year-on-year, alongside a significant 23% rise in cross-border medical cases involving Prudential customers in Chinese Mainland. These trends highlight the growing need for enhanced healthcare solutions as traditional medical services struggle with information-sharing limitations, fee settlement inefficiencies, and service continuity challenges.
Against this backdrop, Fosun Health and Prudential have embarked on a strategic partnership, introducing the Greater Bay Area Medical Expense Direct Payment Service at Foshan Fosun Chancheng Hospital. This collaboration is centered on integrating insurance with healthcare, driving innovation in cross-border medical treatment and payment mechanisms. By systematically enhancing the efficiency, accessibility, and quality of medical services, the initiative aims to create a seamless, high-standard healthcare experience for residents in both Chinese Mainland and Hong Kong.

On 8 May 2025, Fosun Health, along with its member hospital, Foshan Fosun Chancheng Hospital, officially signed an agreement with Prudential to launch their strategic partnership.
The signing ceremony was attended by distinguished guests, including: Deng Shengcai, Member of the Party Leadership Group of the Health and Family Planning Bureau of Chancheng District, Foshan City, and Executive Deputy President of the Red Cross Society of Chancheng District; Kong Xiangjian, Deputy Director of the Office of the Leading Group for the Development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and Deputy Director of the Development and Reform Bureau of Chancheng District; Lawrence Lam, Chief Executive Officer of Prudential; Candy Au Yeung, Chief Customer Operations and Health Officer of Prudential; Hu Hang, Chief Executive Officer of Fosun Health, President of the Greater Bay Area General Hospital, and Chairman of Foshan Fosun Chancheng Hospital; Shen Yun, Co-President, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Strategy Officer, and General Manager of the Insurance and Ecosystem Business Division of Fosun Health; Zhao Xiaodong, Vice President of Fosun Health, Executive Vice President of the Greater Bay Area General Hospital, and President of Foshan Fosun Chancheng Hospital. This cooperation will establish a one-stop medical service system at Foshan Fosun Chancheng Hospital, covering appointment scheduling, specialist diagnosis and treatment, fee settlement, and rehabilitation follow-up. It will also gradually expand the cross-border medical direct payment service network, creating a complete closed loop from health management to insurance claims. Through these efforts, Fosun Health aims to contribute a sustainable model that drives the high-quality development of medical and health services that not only in the Greater Bay Area but across the entire country.
