Fosun Continues ESG Practices, Driving Global Cooperation and Innovation for Sustainable Development

The Fosun ESG Ambassador Week 2024 has recently concluded. The event gathered ESG ambassadors from Fosun's global member companies in Hong Kong to showcase their sustainability initiatives and achievements. The ESG ambassadors engaged in in-depth discussions with local charitable organizations and sustainability teams of financial institutions on topics such as ESG management and green governance, leading to deeper understanding and greater awareness of ESG across various sectors.

Following the successful inaugural Fosun ESG Ambassador Week held in Shanghai last year, this year's edition was jointly organized by Fosun ESG Management Committee, Fosun CSR Global Empowerment Committee, Fosun Foundation, Fosun Carbon Neutrality Committee, and Employee Six-Star Plan / Fosun Ecosystem Employee Experience, etc. ESG ambassadors from companies such as Fosun Insurance Portugal, Fosun Hive Overseas, Peak Reinsurance and Wolverhampton Wanderers F.C. (“Wolves”) participated in the event. In an era marked by the urgent need to address climate change and promote sustainability, Fosun continues to leverage global resources, actively driving sustainability exploration across the Group.

At the same time, Fosun has made strong efforts to advocate for employees to pay attention to sustainable development and environmental protection. During their time in Hong Kong, the ESG ambassadors visited the HKFYG Organic Farm in Yuen Long, learning about the characteristics of organic farming, including the use of fertilizers, sources of irrigation, selection of seeds, and methods of pest control. At the carbon neutrality-themed kNOw Carbon House, the ESG ambassadors learned how to change small daily habits in areas like clothing, food, housing, and transportation to practice a low-carbon lifestyle, thereby contributing to the promotion of environmental protection and sustainable development.

Sustained commitment to social responsibility and environmental practices

Fosun continues to encourage employees to actively practice social responsibility and environmental concepts by supporting community activities. Fosun's employees in Hong Kong have participated in the "Neighborhood First: Rice Giving" volunteer program for consecutive years. During the first half of this year, they made multiple visits to the H.K.S.K.H. St. Matthew’s Neighborhood Elderly Centre, distributing rice to the elderly and low-income individuals and families in Hong Kong, spreading positivity and warmth to the community.

 

It is worth mentioning that in the first half of this year, Fosun International Limited and Fosun Foundation were awarded "Caring Company" and "Caring Organization" respectively by the Hong Kong Council of Social Service, recognizing Fosun's efforts in the field of social responsibility and encouraging Fosun to continue actively participating in public welfare undertakings, contributing to the development of a sustainable society.

Fosun Insurance Portugal continues to enhance the transparency and truthfulness of disclosure of sustainable financial practices and impacts by publishing annual consolidated management reports, referring to the GRI Standards and relevant regulatory requirements for detailed disclosure of non-financial information, and engaging professional audit organization to perform limited assurance on the information and data in the reports in accordance with the ISAE 3000

Fosun Hive Overseas

Through the power of football, Wolves Foundation has collaborated with more than 100 local schools, supporting the growth of thousands of primary school students in key areas such as personal development, social engagement, health, and sports.

 

In February 2023, Wolves launched the One Pack, One Planet project featuring four key commitments to environmental sustainability. The campaign's four headline commitments include: working towards becoming a net zero football club by 2040; embracing a circular economy, minimizing waste, and maximizing reuse; protecting the natural environment and supporting a wilder future; embedding environmental sustainability across the club while engaging, educating and communicating around sustainability.
