Fosun Showcases More Than 20 Well-known Brands at the 3rd China International Consumer Products Expo Opened Today

From 10 April to 15 April, the third China International Consumer Products Expo (CICPE) will be held in Haikou, Hainan Province. Fosun, a regular participant in the CICPE, attends the expo for the third consecutive year and is presenting more than 20 well-known consumer brands at home and abroad in the fields of tourism, fashion, jewelry, cosmetics, spirits and liquor, sports and entertainment, etc., in the Fashion & Premium Brands and Fashion Lifestyle exhibition areas.

This year’s CICPE, which is the first major international exhibition held in China after the smooth transition of epidemic prevention and control, has received great attention from China and overseas. As a global innovation-driven consumer group, Fosun fully leverages the CICPE platform to showcase high-quality products and services from all over the world, and promote the domestic tourism consumption recovery and the construction of Hainan as an international tourism consumption center.


"The CICPE has become an important gateway for Hainan Free Trade Port to go global, and Fosun is an active contributor and even a beneficiary of it." Guo Guangchang, Chairman of Fosun International, said that this year marks the fifth anniversary of the construction of Hainan Free Trade Port and the island-wide customs closure operation is accelerating now. Compared with the previous two editions, the third CICPE, which is positioned as a global exhibition and trading platform for consumer products, gathers more global consumer resources and global buyers to become an important platform that drives consumption and boosts national consumer confidence.


Fosun, which is participating in the expo for the third consecutive year, is bringing more than 20 of its consumer brands to the CICPE this year, which include world-renowned travel service brands, fashion brands, time-honored Chinese brands, and innovative domestic brands that showcase oriental lifestyle aesthetics.


Hospitality & Professional Services and Lifestyle & Outdoor are the important segments of this year's CICPE. Fosun Tourism Group's (FTG) two major brands, Club Med and Atlantis Sanya, made their third appearance at the expo. Club Med is presenting the concept of "all-inclusive overseas holidays" at the CICPE, featuring ‘island paradise’, ‘mountain landscapes’, and ‘ski fields’. Since the beginning of this year, domestic tourism and outbound tourism have shown a recovery trend. Club Med's resorts around the world, especially those in Southeast Asia and Japan, have been widely favored by domestic tourists. At this year’s CICPE, Atlantis Sanya, which will mark the fifth year of operation on 28 April this year, centers on the two core strategies of "entertainment hub for families and global dining destination" to showcase the iterative updates of its diverse products.

At the same time, Fosun is bringing along a number of world-renowned consumer brands including Lanvin, a French couture house with more than 130 years of heritage, St. John, a California-based classic women knitwear brand, Sergio Rossi, an Italian luxury footwear brand, Wolford, an Austrian luxury skinwear brand, Djula, a French designer jewelry brand, AHAVA, an Israeli skincare brand, and WEI Beauty, a high-end Chinese herbal skincare brand to the expo, all focusing on Fosun’s happy lifestyle and showcasing their latest products and high-quality services to global consumers. 

In addition, many time-honored Chinese brands and innovative domestic brands under Fosun set the new trend of oriental lifestyle aesthetics. Laomiao, a China-chic gold jewelry brand is presenting jewelry pieces from the Weiding Love series, Guyun Peace series, and Laomiao Youque series, showcasing the beauty of oriental jewelry to the world. Shanghai Watch is presenting a limited-edition watch in collaboration with animation "The Monkey King: Uproar in Heaven" produced by Shanghai Animation Film Studio. Shede Spirits is presenting a number of international spirits award-winning products including Wisdom Shede, Tunzhihu (sauce-flavored), and Shede Classic at the expo. Yelanggujiu Special Gold Medal, was created to commemorate the "Special Gold Medal" at the 2015 Panama–Pacific International Exposition, is also being featured at the CICPE. Dongjia Cultural and Creative Industry Group is presenting a variety of works from masters of arts and crafts. The 28th Yuyuan Garden Lantern Festival, which was inspired by Shanhaijing, also known as the Classic of Mountains and Seas, a famous Chinese legend consisting of mythical figures and stories, which became one of the most popular cultural activities in China during the period from the end of 2022 to the beginning of 2023, is also being featured at the CICPE this year.

Other participating brands of Fosun include LUSANT, a premium lab-grown colored diamond brand, Seagull Watch, a leading domestic watch brand, Tong Han Chun Tang, a time-honored Chinese pharmaceutical brand, Made in Yuyuan beverages, St Hubert, a French century-old dairy brand, and Lovelink, a leading dating service group in China, Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club from the UK, Wolves Esports, etc., covering multiple areas of household consumption.


It is worth mentioning that, as the chairman unit of the Shanghai International Fashion Federation (SIFF), Fosun also cooperates with the member units of the SIFF to showcase the fashion charm of oriental lifestyle aesthetics to the world through various forms. On 10 April, following the "The Elegance of China: Qin, Qi, Shu, Hua" opening show of the first fashion week at the CICPE last year, GRACE CHEN, the vice president unit of the SIFF showcased "The Splendor of Chinese Literature" collection at the opening show this year, using literary imagination to interpret contemporary oriental aesthetic.


Boosting consumer confidence:

meeting people’s aspirations for a brighter life with high-quality products


"Boosting consumption" became a hot topic in 2023. The government announced work plan to expand domestic demand and place the recovery and expansion of consumption as a topmost priority. As a global consumer group rooted in China, this CICPE has also become an important opportunity for Fosun to help optimize consumption supply, boost consumer confidence, and stimulate consumption recovery.

Since the beginning of this year, with the epidemic prevention and control entering a new stage and the launch of a series of measures to promote consumption, Fosun’s businesses in the consumer and tourism sectors have shown a remarkable upward trend. In 2023, the Yuyuan Garden Lantern Festival, which received wide recognition in Chinese mainland and overseas, attracted more than 4 million visits, effectively driving consumption in the area. Fosun’s tourism business has rebounded rapidly. In the first two months of 2023, the performance of Atlantis Sanya, a subsidiary of FTG has fully recovered and surpassed the level before the pandemic, recording a business volume of RMB399 million, representing an increase of 10% over the same period in 2022, the average room occupancy rate reached 96%; the business volume of Club Med increased by 55% compared to the same period in 2022; the business volume of FOLIDAY Town Lijiang increased by 149% compared to the same period in 2022.

At this year's CICPE, Fosun fully demonstrated its efforts and achievements in driving development with core capabilities such as global operations and innovation, and continuously meeting the happiness needs of family customers around the world, stimulating consumer demand with the latest products and high-quality services, and contributing its efforts to the recovery of the domestic consumer market. 


Cultivating Hainan:

establishing a multi-industry layout to facilitate the construction of free trade port


Since the first CICPE held in 2021, the expo has expanded in terms of scale, has become more internationalized, and has become an important gateway for Hainan Free Trade Port to go global. Fosun, which has a deep relationship with Hainan, is not only an active participant in the CICPE, it has also established a comprehensive layout in tourism, health care, natural resources, new business and other fields to promote the development of related industries and facilitate the construction of Hainan Free Trade Port.


The tourism industry is one of the four leading industries in Hainan Free Trade Port. In April 2018, Atlantis Sanya, China's first ocean-themed one-stop entertainment, leisure and integrated resort destination, which was built by FTG with an investment of more than RMB10 billion, officially opened, marking a new beginning for the tourism industry in Sanya and the era of Hainan Tourism 3.0.

In the past five years, Atlantis Sanya received 20 million visitors and became a benchmark project leading the tourism industry in Sanya, injecting new impetus into Hainan's construction of the world's top tourism ecosystem. In April this year, Atlantis Sanya launched the month-long 5th Anniversary Super Shopping Festival. The 5th anniversary celebration of Atlantis Sanya, which seamlessly connects with the 1 May Golden Week, will further stimulate Sanya's tourism market.


Hainan Free Trade Port focuses on cultivating the biopharmaceutical industry. As a pioneer in international expansion in the health sector, Fosun Pharma entered into an agreement with Hainan Boao Lecheng in June 2022, the two parties will translate scientific research achievements of innovative drugs and medical devices, diagnostic technologies and products into applications based on Lecheng's real-world data, promoting the introduction and implementation of global innovative treatments to meet the clinical needs of more patients in China.


After settling in the Haikou Comprehensive Bonded Zone at the end of 2020, Breas, a subsidiary of Fosun Pharma, introduced the world’s most advanced ventilator, which was the first project in Hainan to transform imported medical devices into domestic products. Currently, the Hainan production base is being built into one of three major production bases of Breas in the world.


Hainan Mining, an important member company of Fosun, has expanded from the original iron ore industry to the oil and natural gas industry under the empowerment of Fosun. In 2022, it completed the industrial layout in the upstream of new energy with the commencement of  the construction of 20,000-ton battery-grade lithium hydroxide plant in Yangpu New Material Industrial Park in Hainan. The project is set to become an important engine that drives the development of the new energy industry in Yangpu so as to play active role in creating the "third pole" of high-quality development in Hainan.

In addition, Fosun Trade, a platform under Fosun specialized in international economic and trade cooperation, was established in the Haikou Comprehensive Bonded Zone in July 2020. Since then it has enter into a strategic cooperation agreement with the Haikou Comprehensive Bonded Zone Management Committee to comprehensive graft Fosun’s industrial resources and put them into use in Hainan. Over the past three years, Fosun Trade has fully leveraged the advantages of the global supply chain to create new businesses the fields of emergency supplies, medical devices, and automobile, and to facilitate the international development of related industries in Hainan.
