(11 March 2022) Since Fosun Foundation announced on 19 February the donation of HK$10 million anti-epidemic materials to Hong Kong, two batches of materials, including COVID-19 rapid antigen test kits, face masks, protective suits, isolation gowns, forehead thermometers, oximeters and other common anti-epidemic materials, have arrived in Hong Kong successively.

Recently, Liu Xiaqiu, Project Director of Fosun Foundation, who oversees coordinating donations, received a message from Lin Weiwei.

Lin Weiwei is the Executive President of the Blazing Youth Community in Wenzhou. What is in the package? Let us reveal later.

Lin Weiwei, who has been looking for how to make donation to Hong Kong, saw an online article from Fosun Foundation "Targeted Anti-Epidemic Support, Fosun Foundation Delivers the First Batch of Anti-epidemic Materials to Grassroots Families in Hong Kong" on 2 March, it reminded her that her colleague, Chen Fangyuan, has been worked as an intern in Fosun. She then contacted Zhang Yifei, Secretary General of Fosun Foundation, through Chen Fangyuan to express their wish to join Fosun in helping Hong Kong fight the epidemic, she particularly wanted to help children.

In 2020, a group of young people in Wenzhou established an organization named the Blazing Youth Community, calling for the young people in Wenzhou to become “energetic and heart-warming” youths. In the same year, the COVID-19 pandemic swept across the country, and Wenzhou became the hardest hit area. The “energetic and heart-warming” youths immediately launched the "Support Wenzhou Action", and then launched the overseas aid actions, and the team continued to grow. They are scattered all over the world, including doctors, nurses, civil servants, private company employees, media workers, international students, etc. All of them have been helping each other in the past two years because of their "Wenzhou people" status.

After getting the confirmation from Fosun Foundation, the Blazing Youth Community contacted local primary and secondary school students, Hong Kong compatriots living in Wenzhou, as well as Wenzhou Guangzhou Chamber of Commerce, Zhejiang Zhiai Foundation (浙江至爱公益基金会), Lianhua Academy, SOPO China, Xutian Packing, Bailu Pictures (白鹿影视), Yimu Media (壹目传媒), and other organizations, to raise a total of RMB67,900 for the purchase of anti-epidemic materials. Meanwhile, Fosun Foundation has swiftly contacted two charity organizations, namely Sheng Kung Hui St. Christopher's Home and Hong Chi Association, which mainly provide services to children.

In addition to the materials, there is a special gift, paintings from volunteers and children, in the package:

There are words written by children and brilliant colors in the paintings. These children’s paintings will be sent along with 10,000 pieces of surgical masks for kids, 21,000 protective suits, 75,000 pieces of 3M N95 respirators and 5,000 sets of COVID-19 rapid antigen test kits to two organizations in Hong Kong that serve vulnerable children.

Let’s cheer for Hong Kong with the “energetic and heart-warming” youths

It is not the first collaboration between the Blazing Youth Community and Fosun Foundation. In 2020, the two parties jointly worked on an international aid project to provide 51,200 pieces of anti-epidemic materials for the hospital in Lille, France.

Liu Xiaqiu said that the anti-epidemic materials and children’s paintings will be sent to Hong Kong next week together with the third batch of materials from Fosun Foundation through a chartered flight. Lin Weiwei said, “We hope that when the epidemic is over, the youths in Wenzhou and in Hong Kong can visit each other and share their stories.”

She also reminded the staff of Fosun Foundationto send the precious paintings to the children in Hong Kong.
