Scanadu Completes US$35 Million Series B Investment

Scanadu, a leading developer of healthcare technologies in Silicon Valley, recently secured a total of US$35 million during a second round of financing, with funding coming from a number of discerning domestic and overseas venture capital institutions such as Fosun Kinzon Capital. The raised funds will go toward promoting the company’s consumer and hospital channels, enhancing hospital diagnostic capabilities, and benefiting the general consumer through mobile Internet applications.

This round of financing was completed through collaboration among Fosun Kinzon Capital, Tencent Holdings Limited, China Broadband Capital and iGlobe Partners of Singapore. First round investors Relay Ventures and AME Cloud Ventures also contributed funding. Zappos founder Tony Hsieh and Yahoo!’s founder Jerry Yang were likewise involved in the financing, meaning that this US$199 product is an embodiment of hi-tech stars in terms of both its investors and users. The investment funds will be used to further promote clinical testing of the Scout™ device.

Scanadu – Your Smart Personal Doctor

Scanadu Scout™ is a mobile device for monitoring the data of human body characteristics, and comes equipped with an in-built, independent operating system. Using only approximately 10 seconds of close contact with a user’s forehead, the device is able to monitor body metrics such as heartbeat rate, shell body temperature, blood oxygenation, respiration rate, blood pressure, as well as emotional fluctuations. Such data can also be transferred to a complementary smartphone app or to a cloud network for analysis.

Scout™ is a more professional tool for medical testing as compared to highly popular bracelet-style wearable devices and applications which rely on mobile phone hardware to carry out tests. In terms of data collection and analysis, Scout™ boasts precision, accuracy and algorithms that attain the standards of scientific research.
