Being an Elite Organization Underpinned by the Partnership Model
——A Letter to Fosun Family Members
At the 2017 Fosun Global Annual Conference, we have already conducted an in-depth discussions regarding Fosun’s missions, visions and strategies.
We hope to assume so much global responsibilities that Fosun can make a difference to the world. We are dedicated to creating a happiness ecosystem for success. To make this vision a reality, we ought to be an elite organization.
In Fosun’s elite organization, I feel that the best recognition to our elite is to become a global partner. We have not only provided incentives to our Fosun global partners, yet more importantly, being a global partner is somehow an honor, a duty, a strong recognition of Fosun’s culture, mission, and strategy.
Fosun partners must have a “self-driven” spirit. As the Chinese saying goes, “you need not spur a willing horse”. They must have the awareness of self-motivation and take initiatives to reinforce “closed-loop” of Fosun’s businesses; they should be learning proactively, integrating and leveraging Fosun resources to promote collaborative growth. If, as a global partner, you still do not have the clue what kind of resources Fosun provides, he/she is certainly an unsuitable person.
Fosun partners must understand Fosun’s culture; thoroughly consider the big picture from Fosun’s perspective, with the aim of maximizing collective interests. Our global partners must start from Fosun’s big perspective - on the one hand they should have a profound understanding of Fosun’s culture and strategies; on the other hand, rather than standing alone, they must consider the Group’s interest as the first place, to link up and integrate the internal and external resources within the Group, and dedicate to developing Fosun ecosystem.
Fosun partners absolutely mean not to last for a lifetime; they will be in and out every year. We hope two types of people become Fosun global partners: Those who can stand alone and make great contributions to Fosun; and those fellow learners who not only deeply understand Fosun’s culture and strategies, but also in the prime of their lives with great potential for growth. They should be willing to continue to climb towards greater heights. We must encourage and attach great importance to these two types of people.
As a global enterprise, Fosun does not only trust Chinese people. Regardless of their nationality, skin color and gender, we treasure all Fosun colleagues and treat them as our family members with equal opportunities. For instance, Henri from Club Med, who has recently become one of our global partners, has already been collaborating with us for many years, while Club Med represents our first global investment brand. Under Henri’s leadership, Club Med’s business results have witnessed substantial growth over recent years, especially when China has now become Club Med’s second largest market. Indeed, Fosun is proud to have him to be our global partners.
Moreover, Fosun is dedicated to building a multi-tier partnership model. It is not a bureaucratic regime in which powers and duties are solely defined with reference to “rank seniority”, yet the model is designed to encourage the partners at various levels to demonstrate strong initiative, to be able to form their own closed-loops, to utilize every possible means to promote their business by tapping Fosun’s resources, to stand and think from the Chairman’s perspective, and to be equipped with global awareness and capabilities. As an elite organization, we believe our partners must be strongly identified with Fosun’s values.
I believe through our continuous learning and by upholding our spirit of entrepreneurship, Fosun can turn out to be 0.01 second ahead of others, and I am also convinced that this elite organization underpinned by the partnership model will enable Fosun to come increasingly closer to its goal of becoming a world-class corporation, to reach greater heights of success, and to make a real difference to the world.
As Chinese New Year is coming soon, may I take this opportunity to wish all members of our Fosun family, whether home or abroad, a peaceful and joyous festive period with new hopes and endeavors.
