(9 November 2011, New York) The U.S.-China Business Leaders Summit (the “Summit”), an important arrangement in the itinerary of The China Entrepreneur Club delegation to the US and co-hosted by Prudential Financial and Fosun Group, was successfully held in University Club on Fifth Avenue in New York City on 9 November 2011.

 

Liu Chuanzhi, Chairman of Legend Holdings Ltd. and Mark Grier, Vice Chairman of Prudential Financial, Inc. delivered their opening addresses. The Summit saw attendance of over 30 renowned entrepreneurs in China, including Guo Guangchang, Li Dongsheng, Feng Lun, Niu Gensheng, Zhu Xinli, together with over 100 celebrities from all walks of the American society, including Daniel D' Aniello, Co-Founder and Managing Director of The Carlyle Group, Harold McGraw III, CEO of the McGraw-Hill Companies and Dr. Yasheng Huang, a well-respected professor in MIT Sloan School of Management. They discussed about issues relating to opportunities regarding Sino-U.S. economic cooperation and development and leadership capabilities.

 

Madeleine K. Albright, the former US Secretary of State, was invited to deliver a keynote speech at a luncheon reception on that day. Albright expressed her appreciation to the visit to the US by the delegation. She called on deeper communication and understanding between business communities in the U.S. and in China to foster development of Sino-U.S. relations. In addition, Albright expressed her gratitude to Fosun Group and Prudential Financial for organising the Summit.

 

On 8 November, Guo Guangchang, Chairman of Fosun Group, also attended a breakfast meeting hosted by the Council of Foreign Relations of the United States and visited Ban Ki-moon, Secretary-General of The United Nations at the international institution’s headquarters. Mr. Guo was invited to deliver an opening address to the U.S.-China Financial Roundtable held in the afternoon on that day on behalf of the delegation.
