The seventh themed month of WE Volunteer——September’s “Care for the Elderly Month” comes to a close! What is reflected behind the transition from a sense of security to a sense of learning, enjoyment and worthiness in old age is precisely the new trend and change of the elderly from paying more attention to their physical needs to focusing on their emotional needs. Over the past month, we actively expanded ecological resources to organize various forms of philanthropic activities, aiming to encourage the public to pay attention to the physical and emotional needs of the elderly and deliver love and warmth to them.

Let's take a look at the exciting events that took place in September.

Rice-Giving Program

With the Mid-Autumn Festival just around the corner, the Hong Kong Regional Operation Committee and Fosun Foundation initiated the “Festival Community Care, Rice-Giving CSR Program”. ONE Fosun Hong Kong has formed a voluntary team to visit the Sham Shui Po Community Association in Tai Hang Tung Estate, Shek Kip Mei, Kowloon, Hong Kong. In addition to distributing rice packs to the elderly and low-income families to relieve their financial burden, the ONE Fosun team also helped the Association to prepare and pack the Mid-Autumn Festival gifts, sent holiday blessings and conveyed care to the elderly and low-income people during this Mid-Autumn Festival time, spreading Fosun’s positive energy of “Creating Happier Lives for Families Worldwide” to Hong Kong.  

Together We Bring Joy to the Elderly

In order to convey care and warmth to the seniors, Fosun Foundation, in collaboration with F-LIN, organized two activities in communities of Quyang Road and North Bund respectively. These activities provided various health services such as blood pressure and blood glucose monitoring for the elderly. We also launched some fun activities like DIY handicrafts and lantern riddles guessing.

Enjoy Mid-Autumn Festival with Seniors

As the Mid-Autumn Festival approaches, Fosun Foundation, in collaboration with FORTUNECARE, organized an elderly care activity in West Tianmu Road community, aiming to deliver festive blessings to the elderly. During the event, the volunteers assisted approximately 20 active seniors in crafting lanterns, making snowy mooncakes, and presented entertaining performances.

“Public Welfare Bazaar”

On September 22nd, Fosun Foundation and Sinotaiji participated in the public welfare bazaar organized by Xiaodongmen Sub-district Office, where volunteers performed Tai Chi, promoting the "Tai Chi for Preventing Dementia" program and helping create an atmosphere of charity.

Hearing Aid Donation Program

In collaboration with Signia, the Quyang Road Sub-district Office, the Disabled Persons Work Committee of Huize County, the United Front Work Department of Huize County Committee,  FOCONG and Yifeng Social Organization Evaluation Center of Shanghai Hongkou, Fosun Foundation organized a hearing aid donation event in Huize County, Yunnan On September 24th. This event involved the donation of hearing devices to 20 hearing-impaired students, to help reduce and improve their hearing impairment.

Shanghai Summit of Philanthropy

On September 4, the 2023 Shanghai Summit of Philanthropy was held in Shanghai Library East. The event was guided by the Shanghai Civil Affairs Bureau and co-organized by various charitable organizations, including the Fosun Foundation. For the first time, volunteers from Fosun Hive and Yuyuan Inc. participated in the summit, supporting the on-site conference work. This allowed them to gain insights into the new developments in Shanghai's philanthropy.

99 Giving Day

From September 7th-9th, Fosun Foundation, together with China Population Welfare Foundation and Rende Foundation, participated in the 9th "99 Giving Day" program organized by Tencent Foundation. Fosun Foundation launched the "Partner Team", in which nearly 140 Fosun global partners led 6 teams and mobilized more than 8,600 donations, including those from employees. These donations were directed towards raising funds for three major charity projects, "Tai Chi for Preventing Dementia", the "Qingwo Program (Youth Village Doctor Training Program)", and the "Caring for Adolescents Program", with a cumulative of more than 1.136 million RMB. During the event, 8 employee philanthropy KOLs took the frontline in fundraising, actively supporting the charity projects and encouraging Fosun employees to participate in the activities.

9th Anniversary of Maitao

On September 23rd, Fosun Foundation's "Caring for Adolescents Program"  was invited to participate in the 9th Anniversary of Maitao, where four Fosun employee volunteers attracted public attention to the issues of rural girls through public welfare advocacy and fun quizzes.

In September, the Fosun Foundation collaborated with 5 Fosun ecosystem partners, namely Ecosystem & Employee Experience Department, FOSUNCARE, Hong Kong Regional Operation Committee, FOCONG, and Sinotaiji. We also received support from 5 external partners, including Signia, FORTUNECARE, Feimayi, Xiaodongmen Sub-district Office and Yifeng Social Organization Evaluation Center of Shanghai Hongkou. Together, we actively participate in various activities to encourage more individuals to engage in the elderly care.

WE Volunteer

To fulfill Fosun Group's commitment of 30,000 annual volunteer hours by its employees, and to practice the initial intention of " Self-improvement, Teamwork, Performance, and Contribution to society" the WE Volunteer employee volunteer project was launched. Each month, a different theme is set and Fosun ecosystem partners are invited to initiate a series of activities around their own resource advantages and CSR ideals, attracting Fosun employees to participate and co-create, to build a more open and inclusive corporate CSR culture and atmosphere.
